  • Deep, almost completely opaque black cherry color. Very sweet and almost jammy nose with ripe aromas of rich blackcurrant character, some chocolatey oak spice and a hint of brambly dark fruit. The wine is full-bodied and somewhat concentrated on the palate with dry-ish flavors of ripe dark fruits, blackcurrant jam, spicy bitterness, sweet chocolate, some minty herbal character and hints of crunchy dark berries. The wine is surprisingly ripe and concentrated for an Alto Adige wine with balanced structure, thanks to its moderately high acidity. The tannins are pretty modest, but still quite firm and chewy. The finish is rich and slightly sweet with persistent flavors of fresh blackcurrants, succulent dark plums, some chocolate oak and some growing spicy bitterness.

A balanced and remarkably ripe Cabernet Sauvignon for one from the mountaineous part of Northern Italy. If one takes into account how savory, acid-driven and crunchy these Northern Italian red wines usually are, this wine was remarkably ripe for the style - much closer to the new world style than what you'd expect. Although the acidity feels balanced and high enough, I would've enjoyed the wine much more were it less oaky and more tannic. Now the wine was a rather modest effort and felt a bit overpriced at approx. 22€.
