Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • {screwcap, 14.5%} Solid garnet, with just a hint of aging to the colour. Developing nose of brambles and currants, always fruit-tinged with a distinct new-world mien. The palate is developing too, with very ripe - overripe?- currants, prunes even, fairly low oak, low tannins, medium acidity. Doesn’t quite have the fruit richness to sustain interest, not the tannin structure if it comes to that, but for a seven year old, sub-$20 wine you can’t complain. By that standard this is pretty much a triumph, in fact. Medium weight, slightly astringent, medium length finish which finally shows shows a bit of toasty oak in the flavours. Tidy, something of a bargain, ready to drink.
