Short story: a gorgeous fruit-forward wine with all the intensity and sensory entertainment Napa can ask for, but loses intensity in the glass rather quickly. This is approaching its peak.
Long description: From the cork: intense notes of pain d’épices, raspberry coulis and cassis
Pop and pour at 45’F. Deep ruby. There’s some fog of alcohol on the nose, then quite an open bouquet of white pepper, blueberry, strawberry preserve, cherry liqueur, resin, moss / dill, a hint of menthol and coconut cream. A very pleasant union of spice, fruit and the vegetable notes. Presumably the three daughters in the name represent fun, productivity and growth.
I was excited to detect the vegetable aromas at such advanced age and initially thought that the famous Dr Crane vineyard is sending us a secret greeting. However, minutes later they diminished. Rather than the site’s signature, they probably come from active water management and will go away in a few years entirely. The hint of menthol should stay, however, as a signature of Napa valley floor.
Mouth-filling red fruits followed by excessive alcohol and then a touch of white pepper. This wine heats the throat all the way down! Medium to full bodied with a persistent fruit story, progressing to darker and more concentrated conclusions. Very fruit forward, benefiting from chewy tannins and an acidity that demands food accompaniment (smoked sardines were perfect). A short chalky minerality play appears for added fun. A gorgeous Napa Cab that’s not boringly sweet but still very fruity.
A bit of a Cinderella as the intensity diminishes within a few hours in the glass. 96 pts

Three hour decant. Very deep magenta color. Frankincense, blackberry, date, violets, truffle chip, mocha, and subtle spearmint on the complex nose. Super smooth, dry palate, with good, persistent acidity. Firm tannins on the longish finish.
This is very nicely integrated and likely at (or near) its peak for most wine aficionados. It’s more perfumed than I like, but I can academically appreciate how well made this is. It kept improving as I drank it over an hour.
Beautiful nose of creme de cassis, mountain grown wild blueberries and brambles, new French oak and herbal shading soar from the glass! Incredibly plush, opulent palate has mouth-coating tannins of the highest caliber. Loads of sweet creme de cassis, blackberry, fresh bay leaf, creosote and oak caress the palate. What a beauty! This is pretty darn fantastic right now, but should age effortlessly given its size, purity, balance and long saline finish. Drink now-2035 96
