  • Deep ruby with some brick at the rim. Dried herbs, cassis, cedar, well worn leather, dark chocolate, and a bit of Asian spice on the very nice nose. Medium body with fully integrated tannins and very nice acidity. Nice spicy fruit and dried herbs on the palate with just a bit of oak in the background. Nice length on the finish with some dark chocolate coming in behind the spicy berries. At peak now, wouldn't hold more than another year, maybe two.

  • Purchased with Jeremy's reco at Binny's St. Charles. The wine is a little tight and as I suspected, the vegetal tail end was a little much for my taste. Not bad and could improve with a year or two in the bottle as it fleshes out and the grip lets go just a bit. Nose had some green vegetal character, not bell pepper but not peas either. I guess a pretty good imitation of fresh Chinon with maybe a little less berry character and a little more green pepper on the end.

  • Interesting for Cabernet Franc. This wine seemed a little rough around the edges, but a nice hint of vanilla and blackberry that made it very drinkable. Oveall, this probably exceeds your typical Cabernet Franc, but at the end of the day, it is still Cabernet Franc. Purchased for $20 at Binny's, for that price, a nice buy just forthe experience...
