Popped and poured and the wine is very approachable right away. Not as funky as I expected. Very floral and spicy nose with lavender, bergamot, rose petals, bay leaf and tea. There’s also a good amount of dark cherry fruit as well. Bone dry on the palate with vibrant acidity and smooth tannins. Very good intensity to the flavors that isn’t as aromatic as the nose.
My first time with a dry Aleatico and it is aromatic character really shows off on the nose but on the palate the wine is less exciting. A fun wine to pour in a blind tasting but I would not buy it again.

4th of July in NH with friends & wine; 7/4/2018-7/6/2018 (New London, NH): Switching over to red wine, was not familiar with this wine but it was quite pleasant. The grapes are 100% Aleatico - my first time with this variety. This variety is usually used to make desert wine - but this is a dry red wine. It had plush dark fruit, some dusty tannins and lots of spiciness with a good balance of acid to keep it fresh. Quite lively and interesting to sip.

Wow. Hyper funky and full of surprises. This is a wine with a peculiar perspective and it’s hard to capture in words. Try it if you can find it.
