Wineflock - 1er Red Burgundy 1988-1998 (Bob Gaynor's): Clear garnet burnt orange color. Forward musty spicy nose of freshly formed bricks and a medicinal/menthol note with some cognac-like heat. Nice round tertiary earth, dried leaves, and iron-rich mineral on the palate with a surprising amount of life and structure remaining. Primary fruit is mostly gone, but still quite interesting to taste. Has a definite hint of cognac-like fortification that may be coming through more noticeably at this advanced age. Thanks to Bob G. for sharing!
