Nice density and depth to this wine. Not a thick wine. Still a nice fluid mouthfeel. Great fruit …. cherry liqueur/compote, prunes, with dark berry freshness. Very smooth tannins, drying, but really well integrated. Elegant. Balsamic notes towards a longish finish. A very nice wine without the bulkiness. Hides its 16.5% alc very well.

Tasted after the slightly dissapointing 2015 Valpolicella Superiore, this is denser, more concentrated, more tannic grip. Lovely balance, the alcohol is hardly noticeable; very elegant and fresh. Persistent finish. 91-92+

A private lunch with friends (Restaurant Noble *, Den Bosch, NL): This has a whopping 16.5% ABV, but because it did not undergo malolactic fermentation, elegance is preserved. Cherry liqueur, balsamic depth, satiny texture, finely grained tannins, lovely floral lift from the stems, remarkable elegance and finesse, intense but not overpowering flavours, precise and long finish.

Expressive nose, quite soapy with high pitched red fruits and marzipan. Unusual; not as dense and weighty as I'd expected from an Amarone...
