  • Took a long time to open up, but after ~45 minutes got quite tasty, very dark and chocolatey.

  • A blend of 82% Grenache, 8% Syrah, and 8% Cinsault. Dark ruby color. Earthy black cherry nose. Tastes of raspberry and cola. Light bodied. Tart acidity. Soft finish with good balance. Seems more like a domestic Pinot Noir than a Grenache. 15.1% alcohol.

  • Much too big for my current tastes. Not sure I would have ever guessed Grenache. More like Syrah. Lots of blue ripe fruit. Big mouthfeel. Some tannins. With pizza. Just not what I enjoy anymore, though nothing technically wrong with the wine.

  • – popped and poured –
    – tasted non-blind over 4 hours –
    – 82% Grenache, 9% Syrah, 9% Cinsault –

NOSE: rich red fruits; smoke; oak; bit alcoholic; fruits darken with air, and the smoke note becomes a bit more sweet so that it comes across as wet coffee grounds.

BODY: fine particulate matter; purple tinged ruby color of medium depth; medium-full bodied.

TASTE: a bit tart with a glycerin mouthfeel; alcohol taste present, but gets better in this regard with air exposure; very rich and round; coffee/oak; finish is of medium length (35-40 sec.); pretty straightforward, but holding on just fine. Ash really likes the spicy/fruit interplay and thinks it’s a bit acidic due to the lack of tannin. I don’t see this getting better with time; drink now.
