Yellow color with fleeting bubbles. Bouquet and flavor reminiscent of cheap balsamic vinegar. Very angular impression with limited nuance and a moderate finish. Drinkable but not memorable. Drunk on Christmas morning in keeping with the family tradition of having Champagne when opening the presents. Merry Christmas.

Almost amber coloured. Pnp it felt quite firm and fresh. 5 minutes later, it broadened out. Nose steals the win here, lots of depth with lovely and opulent though balanced aromas carefully built over the years - ripe yellow fruits, hints of flowers, yeast and dough. Rich palate dominated by ripe yellow apples and ripe lemons, and subtle sherry. Still strong backbone. To me the acidity it not quite in sync with how the wine is showing generally, though perhaps that slowly improved over the course of the 2 hours I followed it. Still a joy to drink. 92-93p.

Milky soft balance. Smoked meat and toasted bread.

The Ultimative 1996 Champagne Tasting with Richard Juhlin (Behrens am Kai in Düsseldorf 1 star restaurant): Green Apple, Brioche, freshly disgorged, elegant, clearly a BdB, but guessed wrong 95(96)
