  • PNP. Floral nose. Bright red fruit and blackberries. Bit of graphite, slightly drying tannins. 12.9%. Crushable now, wish I had a couple more to follow over the next 5+ years.

  • Light color, looks like it might have some age knowing it's Merlot. Tobacco nose which shows on the palate too. Light bodied, not extracted, and hints at old world. Very nice with a big slab of lasagna.

  • I concur with the preceding notes. This wine, tasted over a two day period, improved as it had time to open in glass/bottle. Briceland's Ishi Pishi reds that I have tasted exhibit a common signature (sometimes bypassing and overriding their varietal label) . There's a quality and depth that I really appreciate in these pure IP Briceland wines. In the case of this Merlot, it really did present as a Bordeaux style with not too much to suggest California. Structure and tannic backbone in the wine grew as the bottle drained. At times, I forgot myself and thought I was drinking a Renaissance Merlot, and I wonder when this wine is 20 years down the line, would it hold any court with the likes of those Renaissance Vin de Garde stalwarts. I'll probably never know with just two bottles of this left to try. I'm sure it'll be very nice in 5 years.

  • Telltale Briceland nose of red fruits and white flowers. The palate started off with red cherries and flowers, with the fruit growing a bit darker as the wine aerated. A faint hint of sandalwood appears on the finish. Tannins and acidity are well integrated. Nicely balanced and an absolute joy to drink.

  • This was excellent, at one point reminding me of pomerol. Graphite, blackberries, good length and complexity. Would love to have more of these to track over time. Definitely have lots of time on this, easily ten plus years
