Intense magenta colour. Fairly highly concentrated but with a slight hollowness on the tongue. Lush sweet young fruit still dominated by primary flavours, but not over-sweet. Powerful sweet oak from its barrique aging. Nice acid balance. No requirement to soften up, so very enjoyable to drink now, although usually I'd keep Syrah of this quality/intensity a bit longer to get more secondary development. Bit hard for a wine in this state to be very sophisticated, so I've not marked it higher, but maybe it will reveal something as it develops. Or maybe it is best like this. We shall see.
I opened this because I needed to reassure myself that another well-reviewed 2016 Crozes I'd just opened, D Rousset, was so uncharacteristic there had to be something wrong with it. This demonstrated that it was.

Dark red tinged with purple. Blueberries coming through quite strongly, perhaps cherries and a hint of iron. Tangy, fruity, very good.

Vraiment mieux que la première bouteille bu. Un bon Cuilleron finalement!
