Pritchard Hill Nebbiolo! Need I say more? Ok, I will!
Nose of red cherry, raspberry, spices and herbs
Palate was close was somewhere between a big RRV Pinot and a Paso Grenache. 14.9% abv. Tastes like Cherry raspberry, spice, tobacco and earth. High-moderate tannins and huge acidity balance each other out well. This wine could age 20 years with that acid/tannin combo!
Overall, this was a pleasure to drink. It’s certainly not a Barolo - but it might just be my favorite Nebbiolo outside of Piedmonte!

Forgot I had this bottle after a visit to the winery a couple years ago. For an Italian meal, thought this would be fun to try again.
Quite a unique grape to find on Pritchard Hill. Wow. Italy meets Napa (though honestly, it’s 75 Napa, 25 Italy). Lots of similarities to Cimarossa’s Foglet Nebbiolo from Howell Mtn, but more lifted fruit and depth in the middle (though not as tannic/Nebbiolo like at the finish). The aromatics are almost high toned...really bright and sharp. Smells like a cherry liqueur mixed with rosemary/herbs. Tart red and black fruits, rose petal, and herbal spice dominate the palate. Good acidity and finish. More modern in style than Italy’s version, but enjoyable for what it is. Will improve slightly with another few years away.
