All black fruit with faint spice and meat, this shows the balance I like so much in good 2016s, but I would want just a little more depth. Good for its level, good now, unlikely for any further upside.

Friday Night Burgs (Margeaux Brasserie): Blind but known to be either Volnay or Gevrey. Spice-driven aromatics with good rich fruit. I picked up some meatiness which took me to Gevrey. Table talk brought me back to Volnay. Should always go with your gut. Anyway, this is an impressive village Gevrey that should have a nice aging curve given the old-vine concentration.

Burgundies at Margeaux Brasserie (Chicago, IL): Very pretty, with lots of very bright red fruit that is very 2016. The fruit is supplemented by a little bit of earthiness and a slight spice note as well. The palate is relatively complex for a village wine, and there's more of that bright red acid that I love.

Black cherry and berry with roasted meat, earth, and dried herbs, all persistent start-to-finish with medium+ weight. Lots here for its level.

Nonostante la giovinezza è un'ottima bottiglia.
Appena aperto, Succo di Mirtillo al tappo. al naso, e in bocca.
Si evolve con l'aria smussando le punte ma i sentori rimangono.
Da riprendere
