This started out in a zone that seemed to be on track for greatness, but it shut down hard in under an hour. Like Aqua Net at a Stevie Nicks concert, it was initially swarming with wonderful acid and speed that seemed like it was going to burst after eating some O2. Not so with this bottle. "Leave me alone," cried the fat turkey. Wait until Thursday, November 28th, 2030.
...Half the bottle saved for Day 2. What will become of this grumpy gobbler?!...
Day 2: Still angry. Less coiled up and biting than 24 hours ago, but the fruit is still pretty muted. 5-7 years from now, at least.
Day 3: Here we go… Is that depth? Is that fruit and flavor expansion? Well that’s surely a nice breath of fresh air. This is the best it has been. “Proof” (more like a “strong indication”) that this thing needs a ton of time. Leave alone and expect to be rewarded down the road.
Drank over 4th of July weekend with a 2016 B Cellars Missouri Hopper. This wine was much better. However, stop reading this immediately and hide these bottles in your cellar for 5-10 years. I can't imagine what this will be like in a few years. Just magnificently complex, I think I could nail a MG wine blind at this point after trying the 2014-2016 over the last few months. 96 for now, 98-100 if you have patience.
Barrel tasting in the caves with Chris Tynan and friends. We barrel tasted the '16 and '17 and had the '14 out of bottle. the 15s are resting comfortably somewhere else.
Very dark; black and purple, sweet smell, a little creamy and tons of fruit and backbone. This is going to be another masterpiece. 98-100 points.

Muted on opening, left open at 58 for 48 hours, just gorgeous. Hold for 5+, ideally 8-10.
