Community Tasting Notes (6) Avg Score: 89.8 points

  • A Nony wine from just off the southern boundary of St. Julien. Soil: gravel over clay, and limestone. 50/50 Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. 13.5% abv. NOSE: eucalyptus, redcurrant, aerated cool mineral, some sticky cedar mulch and first-aid kit. All fit and proper under the hood. MOUTH: textured, soft tannins. Minty reeds. A trace of saccharine. Frugal austerity can be slick. Fresh, proper balance. Fennel, cassis, bitter mineral–all the things I love! (seriously.) It contains an annoying little top note of sanity and withholding.

  • Compared to the bottle tasted in 2019, more mature in the nose, berries, cherries, black truffles, caramel, lavenders, mints, violets, and roses; still somewhat tight on the palate, berries, cherries, dark chocolate, peppers, tannins, and light wood spices; long finish; overall, 91-92 points, still young.

  • May benefit from aging up to 10 years

  • Fantastic nose filled with cherry, notable violet. Body is quite rigid, notes of graphite. Undertone of some spice. Medium-long Tannins. Needs to open up. Cellar, in a few years could be a 90+.

  • The previous poster has this nailed. This is a bargain priced (under $20) 50/50 cab merlot blend that I would use as a way to introduce CA meritage lovers to French Bordeaux wines. It is round, decently concentrated, soft enough to wow with it's dark cherry herbal flavors. I can't go as far as black fruits but I can go for the plum fruits. And the flavors are pretty ripe too. I can't put it at the 92 point range because it's not structured enough for my threshold of what I think the 92 and up wines should be. It's lowish alcohol at 13.5% gives it an elegant and easy to drink quality. Below are the professional notes:

Impressive violets and warm spices with dark cherries, cassis and plum liqueur flavors amid firm long tannins, which carry the wine well for some time. Try from 2022.

    WE92 Wine Enthusiast
Run by the Nony family, this 17-acre estate has produced a generous, rounded wine dominated by black fruits. The barrel aging has enhanced the black-currant flavors and the acidity. All these elements are coming together in a full wine that will age well. Drink from 2024.
