Company dinner at Novotel. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of red cherries with a darker red edge, dark red berries, earth envelope. Developing. On the palate, dry, good high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), medium tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of good concentrated ripe red cherries, dark red plum, fresh sweet earth. Long finish with a mineral outer layer. Very good quality. Good Chassagne village wine with concentration hat can age a bit and develop over the next 2-3 years.

Taste: The feel is medium bodied with mouth-watering, medium+ acidity and slightly coarse, medium+ tannins. The structure is youthful but a little coarse along with raspberries, dark red cherries, brown spices, and earth tones.
Overall: This is a lovely and well balanced Chassagne rouge that shows off a real rustic side. This could use a few years to fully round into form and let the structure resolve a little.

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind Burgundy (Chevalier Fine Wines - Chicago IL): Small glass, tasted blind. Rich and concentrated red fruit aromas, flavors with sweet spice and soft tannins but also a good backbone and balance. Medium density made me realize this to be a great Villages level wine, especially for much-aligned Chassagne rouge. Good now with upside.

This is a really great bottle of red Burg that will change your opinion on Chassagne rouge. Full, stem-filled nose of red cherry and herb. The palate has excellent concentration for a village-level wine. Great balance. Will most certainly age, but darn tasty now.

Bernard Moreau Dinner (S.K.Y. restaurant, Pilsen, Chicago IL): Nose: The nose is fragrant and leans to the more rustic side with raspberries, dark red cherries, brown spices, earth notes, and violets.

A terrific value in Pinot Noir. So good in its youth with exuberant rich fruit and loads of stem and spice. Gratifying.
