  • This is actually the Cabernet Merlot.
Excellent, classic Coonawarra, with a couple of gold medals.
    Colour: black berry, some browning.
Bouquet: aromatic, with mint, capsicum, black olives and meaty characters.
Palate: sweet fruit up front, with black cherry, mint and tobacco flavours, fine grained soft tannins, medium body, and dry, long clean finish. Beautifully balanced elegant style. Less depth perhaps than a Wynn's Cabernet Sauvignon.
    April 2014.

  • Big fruity nose; smells like jam. Mouth drools at prospects.

Unfortunately, taste doesn't match smell. While drinkable it's empty of distinctive flavor. Heavy swirling in your mouth will elicit some fleeting berry flavor. Tastes so light it's possible to mistake it for a pinot rather than a cabernet. Very disappointed as I've had this wine many years back and it was definitely worth of the quadruple gold medals it had won; I think I just saved it for too long. :(
