  • Served chilled at about 11c/52f. 11.5% abv to accompany entree of Pasta & Shrimp. Nice pale pink color, Floral notes on the Nose. Wine is Crisp and Refreshing with notes of Fruit on the palate. Wine is dry, but not overly so. More flavorful than I would expect for a single varietal. The grape is Sciaccarellu (100%), a fragrant varietal grown mostly in Corsica, typically blended rather than as a varietal. Exceeded my expectations. Overall most pleasant and I will definitely purchase more. Excellent accompaniment to food, or by itself just for casual summertime sipping. A very good value at about $10.

Wine served in a subsequent tasting comparison with the similarly priced 2017 Le Reveur Cotes du Rhone Rose from Guillaume Gonnet (50% Grenache: 50% Cinsault, 13.0% abv) at $7. Both wines were an impulse purchase at Costco.

Both pale pink in the glass, the Cote du Rhone of a slightly darker hue. Both had a pleasant floral nose with hints of citrus and red berry on the palate. Both were crisp and refreshing with a dry minerally finish and after taste. Both wines are rated about 87-88 points. I had a slight preference for the Corsican wine, but spouse (naturally) expressed a preference for the Cote du Rhone. No matter; I don't think you can go wrong with either one for quality and price. Both are good as an accompaniment with food or just for casual sipping on its own.

  • Sat, 3/24/18, $2 Tasting (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): N: Floral with minerals

P: LM body; RNDISH entry with ALMOST swtish frt nicely counerbalanced by acidity which transitions into a LONG, spicy, tangy/swt (50:50) finish. Very nicely done as an aperitif or with lighter fare for now & through '19. My VG-/VG, poss more if one takes into account the QPR vis-a-vis similarly styled wines. [Tough to evaluate this vendor's $10.95 as there's only one other (higher) listing currently on wine-searcher.]
