Le Langhe 2019; 10/26/2019-11/1/2019 (Le Langhe, Piedmont, Italy): Ripe cherry and blackberry smell, some wood and some leather. Concentrated and mouth filling. Medium to full bodied, significantly richer but less floral than the 2016. Lots of tannin and structure. Very good.

Decanted and enjoyed over 3h. Aromatic nose of violets, baking spices and white pepper. This is a feminine easy to drink barbaresco that despite its youth and tannins was very accessible, especially after 2h in the decanter. The palate has a nice complex blend of juicy red fruit, with a hint of balanced sweetness, and nice notes of oak (not overstated), acid, tannins, and black pepper in the finish. The peppery finish goes on for a while. Right now a lot of the heft comes from the combination of the bright fruit and tannins. So plenty of complexity and the structure to last quite a few years in the cellar. I really enjoyed this tonight with my garden salad and lamb stew. Should order more.
