  Seine Farbe erinnerte in den Randregionen schon etwas an transparente kleine Euro Cent Münzen. Doch sein Kern war immer noch in ein stabiles Rubinrot gehüllt. Die Nase zeigte sich sehr parfümisiert-fruchtvoll und fleischig. Sein Alter riechte man ihm nicht an. Er wirkte eher sehr wollüstig, drall und eindeutig napa'nesisch ohne es mit diesen Ausprägungen all zu sehr übertreiben zu wollen. Am Gaumen kam er gar nicht so reichhaltig und fruchtbombig daher. Seine Erdbeerfrucht wirkte durchweg kühl, also für einen Pinot aus Carneros, und überraschend vital. Seine sehr balanciert eingebundenen Laubwaldaromen und die kräftigere Spur süßnussiges Resteichenholz sollte ich nicht unerwähnt lassen. Wie schon angedroht! Heute verweile ich im kurz angebunden Schreibmodus. Es gibt eigentlich auch keinen weiteren Grund mehr zu schreiben. Der Avant Garde 2002 war nicht sonderlich komplex - was bei ihm wohl nicht angedacht war, dafür sehr gut ausbalanciert, er war sehr kalifornisch, aber auch erstaunlich trinkanimierend und nicht sättigend. Sogar für mich! Einfach ein einfacher, anständiger Pinot Noir ohne Komplexe.

  Lighter crimson color, not as dark or big as more expensive pinots but still enjoyable. Lots for dark berry fruit on palate. Finish not as long as would like but overall for the price this is a very good pinot.

  Quite delicious, light fruity pinot lots of fruit complexity and very light tannins. Enjoyed with food and for a couple of hrs afterwards.

  Quick Day Trip to Napa (Napa Valley CA): Tasting at winery. Pleasant red cherry aromas. Simple flavors of red fruit with modest concentration or length.
