This wine has aged nicely. The candy fruit so prominent in many of the southern Californian Pinots (this one from Edna Valley, right outside of San Luis Obispo) has toned down after 12 years (about time) and the balanced, still fruity, meaty, dark cherries flavors blend together nicely. Smooth, long finish. A little fading around the edges gives away its age but otherwise, very nice.
Still on the sweetish side compared to Oregon Pinots of this same vintage, serve cool and eat with barbequed Salmon and mustard dill sauce (Larupin is my favorite from Humbolt County).
