  • Intense nose of wild berries, chocolate, liquorice, lots of menthol freshness and port sweetness. Full bodied in the mouth, mature cassis, cherry, plum, cassis, raisin, figs, chocolate, clove, with a powerful phenolic, finish. Potential for further improvement, hence no hurry at this stage.

  • Significantly better than the bottle I opened in early 2021. This time there was quite a bit of fine sediment deposited in the bottle. Overall the wine is quite well balance, particularly as compared with almost 2 years ago. In a really good place now.

  • Had high hopes for this, but didn't find it meeting expectations. It's fine, but not very exciting. Deep purple color. Notes of black currant, eucalyptus, chocolate, potting soil, green peppercorns and wood shavings. Big and round, satin texture and full-bodied, with rich juicy back and red fruit on the palate. It's just simple on the palate, far simpler than the bouquet prepares you for or what I was hoping for.

  • Day 1: not a great wine. Unbalanced fruit and almost more like a zinfandel without the spicy zin component than a syrah. Happy this was my last bottle.

Day 2: much more interesting ... fruit receded a little, tannins more present, wine more integrated with appealing earthiness. Solid QPR and wish I had more, either to heavily decant or to open a day in advance. (score reflects day 2)

  • Very powerful, but well structured wine “of the south”. Intense nose of wild berries, chocolate, liquorice, menthol, port. Full bodied in the mouth, mature cassis, cherry, plum, cassis, raisin, chocolate, with a powerful phenolic, finish. Potential for further improvement.
