Decanted 90 minutes and drank over the next 2 hours. I can see how some rate this 93-95 because it is a very well made wine with lots of extraction. For me, it still has too much sweetness and ripeness which I’m not a fan of. Drank along side a 2007 Viñedos de Paganos El Puntido Gran Reserva Rioja which I liked better. The wives liked the Quivet better which isn’t wrong. Pellet seems to be not as over ripe as Kenefick which I like even less. I’m in the minority of those not fans of Mike Smith wines and that’s Ok too. If you like this style it’s excellent. Just not for me.
Night one: an hourlong decant, explosion of red and blue fruits accompanied by a syrah-like splash of pepper. Long finish. So much fruit but enrobed by lovely tannins and comfortable backbone. Absolutely luxe and delicious.
Night two, about 7 ounces reserved in a smaller bottle, the pepper is gone and has been replaced by a very nice pruniness with the red and black fruits in backup.
Two different experiences, both Outstanding. Thank you, Mike Smith!

Nose: dark fruit, blackberry
Palate: blackberry, cedar, flint tart, high acid; full body, velvety smooth;
Overall: fruity and pretty primary, nice body but a bit too acidic/tart (possibly too warm?)

Decanted one hour. Nice extraction but just not my style with the fruit bomb sweetness. I quit buying Mike Smith wines as they are just not for me.

Dark purple with some burgundy color at the rim. Nice fruit. Finish is short to medium. Very nice wine - but not outstanding to me.
