  • This is really in a fine place at the moment. Red and black fruits, iron, a prominent mineral note. Lots going on here and all of it good. I don’t know that it gets better from here, so open and enjoy. Another Mike Smith winner.

  • Interesting counterpoint to a 2014 Quivet Kenefick Ranch cab opened alongside it. This was less fruit forward and more of a balancing act between red and black fruits and savory mineral, iron, and beef blood notes. On this night, I preferred the Kenefick, but the group was split between the two. This one probably has more years of prime drinking ahead of it than the Kenefick does. Enjoy over the next five or six years with confidence (I would drink the Kenefick over the next three years).

  • I last tried this wine in 2018 and I was very disappointed. Time laying down has been good for this wine! (which gives me hope for all of the 2018's NV Cabs I have that are just not impressing me at this point) All black fruits, nice mouthfeel, medium finish.

  • Ok...might have to amend my criticism of Quivet Cabs. decanted 90 minutes. Poured half glasses. Classic Cab nose. Dark color. First sip...no sweetness. Me likey. Black fruits dominate here as Cab should be. Medium/Medium heavy mouthfeel. Nice extraction without being heavy handed. Nice flavor layers. Great balance with medium acidity. Dont think this is a long ager. Long lingering finish. Still lots of fruit with zero bricking. Very nice. Not sure why the 14 Kenefick was sweet and this not. Maybe a weird bottle. One more of these left so we will see.
