Lean, tartly red-fruited and quite acidic. Not a lot of charm, which is why I opted to use it in a lamb stew instead of drinking it. The stew turned out well.

Decanted for an hour. The nose was a bit shy with some coffee, cherry and blackberry. The taste developed over time, initially being clearly short. Coffee, cocoa beans, cherry dominated together with animalic notes of red meat with a smoky touch. Over time it got richer but never really got full weight. I think it is well into the drinking window and would not expect it to develop much further. A nice pairing with a flap steak from the barbecue served with bear aide and grilled lace bowl.

Deep concentrated and youthful typical syrah nose with blackberries smoked meat, juniper, sloe, violets and herbs.
