  • In a great drinking window. PnP. Dark ruby color, no sign of age. Oh the nose! Effusive nose goes on and on, right from the opening. On the palate, a bit tight upon opening but opened up nicely with some air. Medium-bodied with fruit, hint of oak, cassis. Plenty of acidity but nicely balanced. Finish length was great at the price. Wife wasn't as excited, but she doesn't have a sensitive nose, and that's what this wine is all about. Will try to buy some more, it still seems widely available out there.

  • Initially on PnP had a medicinal smell, similar to iodine. It blew off within a few minutes. Thereafter: Healthy enough cranberry color, with legs. Nose was faintly fruity, and showed hints of cocoa. Palate evokes menthol, high-toned, light body, sleek and elegant. This won't wow anyone, but you could do worse for less than $23 for a nine-year-old Bordeaux. Hard to tell how long this will provide decent drinking, but I doubt it will improve, so drink up. 5-11-13-6: 85/100. Reading others' notes after leaving mine, I agree with those citing vanilla, cedar. and herbaceousness.

  • Opaque deep purple color, fruit on the nose and also perhaps a herb note, rich tasting medium-bodied wine, balanced acidity, fruit such as ripe cherry on the finish

  • Robust and earthy, with nice tannins and medium acidity. Smooth and very palatable, good with hearty meat dishes. Dark fruit - plum and cassis. Really it's the earthy herbaceousness with some cedar that dominates, but the fruit is there too. Good for drinking now.

  • Lovely and more cost-effective Haut-Medoc. Perfect amount of rusticity here adds some dusty complexity on the nose, showing potting soil and moldering cedar notes that frame the black currant backbone. Delving deeper reveals silky caramel, tons of pencil shavings, pipe tobacco, vanilla and a surprising pop of menthol/bay leaf. Palate is excellently integrated with cherries, light oak, fine moderate tannins and a complement of medium acid. Comes together beautifully, especially at the price point.
