  • Apparently 70 gr/l RS but does not really taste that sweet. Tried by chance at the same time as the Pinot Gris 2017 from the same vineyard with 60 gr/l RS(see separate note).
    Colour: light gold, bright, clear.
Nose: v full, v ripe, opulent, classic lychees, perhaps lacking a touch of freshness.
Taste: med body, rounded, unctuous, good varietal fruit, needs more acidity yet typical of the hot terroir suggested by the name.Med finish, quite sweet, good fruit but needs a kick of acidity.
Overall, fascinating to taste against the PG. The microclimate says it all. Both slightly lacking nerve and both definitely food wines. Fun to try at this age.

Retasted after 24 hours vacuvined. Has become rather blousy. A dessert wine.

  • Easter gathering (Andrew's): Tried pairing this with Easter honey ham based on internet recommendations. The sweet-on-sweet didn't really work for me. Wasn't crazy about the wine style and will have to try again under different circumstances.

Follow-up: Our Easter hosts put the leftover wine in the fridge and drank it a week later. They said it was terrific, despite that time post-opening. This encourages me to look forward to another try in the future.
