This is my first Feteasca Neagra, so I really don't have any reference point. Clear, bright medium to medium (+) ruby. The nose is earthy and somewhat reductive, with black plum and oak influenced vanilla and smoke. The nose is much cleaner on the second day. The palate is dry, but with some RS, with medium acidity, medium, chalky tannins and high alcohol (14%). The balance and the overall experience benefits by serving it a little bit chilled. The finish has a slight but pleasant bitter licorice and herbal note. The wine still seems fairly youthful and needs some air time, but it really doesn't have the structure of depth for aging. Better on the second day.
