  • Fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. 7 days of maceration. Aged for 6 months in concrete and stainless steel. 14% alcohol.

Pale, translucent ruby red color. Brooding, dark-toned and quite earthy nose with aromas of juicy but not particularly sweet cherries, some savory spices and a little bit of licorice root. The wine is medium-bodied, ripe and slightly sweet-toned with somewhat noticeable warmth and youthful flavors of sweet red cherries, some ripe darker berries, a little bit of juicy dark plums and a hint of licorice. The wine is quite impressively structured with its moderately high acidity and quite tough and tight-grained tannins. The finish is quite grippy and rich with flavors of ripe plummy fruit, some black cherries, a little bit of strawberries, light raspberry marmalade tones and a hint of savory spice.

A very muscular, tough and tannic effort for a Langhe Nebbiolo. The overall character is very ripe and primary with emphasis on the juicy and rather straightforward Nebbiolo fruit and firm tannins. The wine really doesn't seem extracted, but instead just naturally tannic - even more so than many a Barolo or Barbaresco. All in all, the wine is a bit too primary - and thus, a bit simple - for my preference, but I can imagine the wine will get its game together better with age. Expect the score to go up after 2-3 years. All in all, a tasty and very structured everyday wine with good potential for medium term.

  • Young and with very primary aromas. Generous and open, and on the burgundian side of Langhe. Didn’t notice any excessive alcohol or over ripe fruit which one might suspect from a hot vintage such as 2017.
