30 minute decant. Beautiful dark purple color. Wonderful nose of red berries, earthy herbs, chocolate and rose floral notes. Bright ripe palate of red fruit, black cherry, mocha and minerals. Balanced lively acid and silky tannins lead to a lingering finish. Hitting a nice drinking window.

Not much on the nose, but that could be residual Santa Ana allergies as much as the wine. Still a pretty balanced interplay with the acid and tannins — this can easily go another 5 years and remain in balance. Mostly dark fruit, boysenberry maybe, and some bitter chocolate. Really nice. Tasting blind I would likely guess French, a St Emilion with some oomph.

It has been 6 months since I last had this and the wine has definitely kicked it up a few notches. Drink or hold.

Two-hour decant. Has much potential but will wait a while for the Cab Franc to integrate better with the Merlot before trying another bottle.
