Paired this with balsamic seared lamb loin chops and a mushroom medley with cippolini onions. Left open for ~1 hr before opening, served at cellar temp or slightly below.
Medium-light body, has some legs. No cloudiness, almost a burnt ember or salmon color. There is a hint of alcohol on the nose, with floral and crushed herb notes and chalkiness. On the palate there is some earthiness and mushroom with crushed herb again and very minute violet notes. It’s overall earthy and has a really nice vibrancy and energy on the palate - I think the most defining characteristic is the spicy liveliness this brings. Really tasty and would purchase again for the unique texture.

Jackson clone from UC Davis. Very perfumed, almost a lotion aroma in a good way. Bell pine. Min 30 yr vines and dry farmed. High elevation, cold vineyard sights, neutral oak. Yeast is cultured from vineyard sights. '08 was 1st commercial vineyard. Light and focused.

Cranberry nose with minerality - lighter body high tone fruit. Delicate and pretty.

Jackson Clone planted apparently 1890s. Rediscovered in the 1960s. Pretty spice on the nose, not quite as lean as I remember it.
