  • 2013 Patricia Green Cellars Pinot Noir Pommard Clone Freedom Hill Vineyard

Lively and light on the palate, woodsy and a little smokiness. Good length with dark red fruited cherry and plum notes, but not overly fruit-forward or sweet. Really balanced and delicious - my wife says it is a perfect fall-weather wine.

  • 2015 Ryme Cabernet Franc Alegria Vineyard

First time trying a Ryme effort - really enjoyed this with some grilled chicken thighs. Drank at cellar temp with ~1-2 hours of air.

Opaque magenta through the rim and light bodied, which I would expect at 12.5% abv.

The nose doesn’t give much, but is dusty (in a good way) with Liam and wet soil.

On the palate, this wine is reminiscent of a Zin in some ways (think Ridge Geyserville) with some bramble and red fruits, but seems in a lot of ways brighter with more evident acidity and tannin that have a different energy (for the record, I love Geyserville - my wife finds it on the dusty/bramble side, and this is a good compromise).

Will look into other Ryme bottlings, as I have heard good things. At $38 at my local wine shop, this is a little on the expensive side, but is quality stuff and interesting enough that I’d pursue a half-case or more direct from the winery.

  • 2016 Teutonic Wine Company Pinot Noir Bellpine Vineyard

Paired this with balsamic seared lamb loin chops and a mushroom medley with cippolini onions. Left open for ~1 hr before opening, served at cellar temp or slightly below.

Medium-light body, has some legs. No cloudiness, almost a burnt ember or salmon color. There is a hint of alcohol on the nose, with floral and crushed herb notes and chalkiness. On the palate there is some earthiness and mushroom with crushed herb again and very minute violet notes. It’s overall earthy and has a really nice vibrancy and energy on the palate - I think the most defining characteristic is the spicy liveliness this brings. Really tasty and would purchase again for the unique texture.
