This needs some more bottle age. In the Beginning too reductive, covers everything. Blew off after two hours, became pure comfort then with caramel popcorn, flint, apple, pear, toast.

A Belated 52nd Birthday Celebration (Alisal Guest Ranch, Solvang, CA): Maybe I hold this producer to too high a standard, but this wine came off as pandering in a way: just too turbo-charged, with loads of reduction and richness. Almost clumsy. Maybe with some real bottle age things will settle out better?
