A wine dinner compèred by Douglas Blyde (London): Very saline on the sides and the finish. Energetic. Deep orangey-pink, darker. Orangy taste, too. Fruit, exhaust fumes, ozone, sea. Apparently this was the only bottle available in the UK (for now).

Couldn't resist buying at the wine shop up the street from our Brooklyn hotel. Equal portions of 4 Portugese reds, only one that I know. Made on the Azores. Clear persimmon color with tart red fruit and decent acid finish. Only 12% alcohol, nice on a warm NYC afternoon.

An interesting orange hue to the wine. Dry and light, went well with some sticky-sweet ribs to break things up. Novelty of an Azorian wine was fun.
