The mercurial Mark West appellations can be hard to pin down; this one apparently is "California." I suppose that means the fruit did not come from Sicily. Dark purple red color, quite an opulent nose of dark fruit, on the palate it has reasonable, pleasing dark cherry, a bit of sweetness, one-dimensional. But what are we looking at: $7.99. If you want real Pinot Noir, you have to spend real money. If you are content with faux pinot, then this is it.

Gets better once open, for $10, not bad. Just wish I didn't break a bottle of 01 Lynch Bages taking it out of the refrigerator.

Good value pinot -- very drinkable for the price.
