  • The fruit is sourced from the Lenswood vineyard planted in the mid-1980's in Adelaide Hills. Aged in used French oak hogsheads for 10 months. 13,5% alcohol, 6,06 g/l acidity and pH 3,6.

Youthful, luminous and quite pale raspberry red color. Fresh, aromatic and varietally very true nose with aromas of red-fruited Pinosity with crunchy cranberries and ripe raspberries to the fore, followed by aromas of peppery spice, some sappy dark berries, a little bit of speck-like smoky tones, a savory hint of wood spice and a touch of earth. The wine is ripe, juicy and medium-bodied on the palate with flavors of black cherries, some black raspberries, a little bit of peppery spice, light sweet notes of wild strawberries, a hint of savory wood spice and a touch of crunchy cranberry. The wine is wonderfully high in acidity with light yet pleasantly grippy tannins. The finish is long, clean and pure with gentle tannic grip and vibrant flavors of tart lingonberries, some cranberry tones, a little bit of sour cherry bitterness, light sweet notes of black cherries, a hint of stony minerality and a touch of savory wood spice.

A beautiful, classic and very harmonious Pinot Noir made in a wonderfully structure-driven old-school way. Not a big or flashy wine, but instead one that values balance and structure over fruit or excessive use of oak. Very Burgundian. Comes across as a bit youthful and could really benefit from further cellaring. Most likely capable of aging wonderfully over longer term. Really nice, recommended.

  • Sweet red cherries, roses on the nose along with a palate of wonderful spices, cola and cinnamon, dominated by the soft extraction of the sweet red fruits with a finish of wonderful elegance. Originally a pet project for Stephen Henschke, I believe this is becoming one of the standout wines in the Henschke portfolio. This is Grown in the Lenswood Estate of Adelaide Hills, This Pinot Noir uses around 20% Whole bunch fermentation, and is matured for 10 months in seasoned french oak. Drink now over the next 5 years.
