  • Firing baby. Ready in an hour. Beautifully rich, concentrated blue and black fruits. Lots of mocha, roasted coffee, caramel and a profound mineral core. Keeps you coming back for more and more. Enjoying this by the fire tonight on a 63F day. Ripe tannins, great finish. Cheers all!

  • Three hour decant. Nearly opaque bull’s blood color (i.e., opaque ruby magenta). Meringue, stewed black cherry, plum, juniper, candied fig, vanilla frosting, fresh parsley, and subtle clove on the nose. Very smooth, dry, full bodied palate, with nice, granular acidity. Firm, yet plush, tannins on the long finish.

This pulls off an impossible balance of decadence and complexity. Not all notes were there simultaneously. Varying combinations come and go. Perfectly integrated. Score would be higher with shorter decant. This is singing in just one hour.

  • PNP. Deep dark hazy magenta color. Mushroom, caramel, and dark fruit on the nose (better than it sounds). Smooth, dry palate, with great acidity. Firm, full tannins on the long finish.

Much more fruit appeared as this received some air. Drinking beautifully these days. This is one of the greatest bonus tastings I’ve had in recent memory. Addax owner Josh Peeples pulled it out to highlight how great this Cab is with a touch of age.

  • Two hour decant. Very deep dark electric ruby color (almost black at its core). Blackberry, spiced plum, pecan, dark chocolate, roast beef, brown sugar, subtle thyme and peppercorn on the rich, sultry nose. Smooth, dry, full bodied palate, with nice, radiating acidity. Firm, full, medium intensity tannins on the longish finish.

Wonderful complexity here. If I was tasting blind, I may have thought this was a Syrah-based blend. Definitely in a maturation phase at the moment.

  • Two hour decant. Deep dark ruby rim, with an opaque black core (known as “bull’s blood” at Addax). Rose petals, blackberry compote, black cherry, fennel, store bought pie crust, and subtle amaretto on the rich, complex nose. Dry, satiny palate, with tongue coating, pixelated acidity. Firm, full tannins on the long finish.
