Like candy. A touch hot so I'm not sure how well it will age. Candy Apple, black pepper, a little cayenne on the finish. Nice finish, great with Asian food.

Garnet red with raspberry outer rim. When we poured the whole room smelled of dark cherries and alcohol. We completely disagreed on this wine. One thought it was a completely over extracted monolithic cough syrup fruit bomb. The other thought it was a deeply extracted -- even slighly over extracted -- strong grenache with a lot of beauty and decadent flavor. We couldn't even agree on a score. She scored 74 and I scored 92.

A rather huge nose of slightly stewed and macerated fruit with hints of chocolate, ripe berries, and herbs (marjoram). Plentiful fruit does not excuse the over-ripe quality. Boozy, lush, and hedonistic with little nuance. Tonight, after picking up and drinking Novy and Cayuse Syrahs at retail, popping this at the end of the evening definitely suggests it's bedtime. Excessively sweet and very cocktail-like. Incidentally, I loved this wine at release. (81)

Lots of fruit. Drinking very well now without decanting. When it warmed up, the alcohol became a bit much, but when colder was simply beautiful.

Wednesday Night Blind - March 2010 (Peter Pratt's Inn): Tasted blind - Huge amounts of heat and alcohol, very ripe cherry fruit, vanilla, cola, had to be Grenache. Not my cup of tea anymore.
