Very nice but felt like this bottle was in a dumb phase compared to the extremely expressive earlier one. Tasting notes are similar, just all toned down. Could have been a variety of factors including recent bottle transport, temperature, or taste buds being a bit dull at the time.

At $35, this was outstanding--multiple people said that this was one of the best wines in the past few months. The 80 pt rating comes from a fool--I'll drink all their Northern Rhones, and for that matter Burgundies, Bordeauxs, and anything good...they can have the Meiomi...
Opened light, floral, stone, and like a Burgundy. Other than some heat on the nose and a subtle blueness of fruit, the first 15-20 minutes felt like a blind young, full bodied CdNuits Village level. As it opened the body picked up (tannins, but also a general weight) and the deepness of the blue fruit became clear. No longer able to be confused with a Burg; fresh leather and clean salt on the nose, blueberry/blackberry mash on the palate, with some perfect medium-light and stylistically typical French barnyard funk. Nose was exquisite; palate very good. Could age further, but why? Enjoy now.

Good purple fruited syrah, med. body-concentration, slight light pepper, not an exciting wine but solid. Overpriced. B&J's
