Aromas of cut grass and strawberries, interestingly enough. On palate I still picked up the strawberries but also cherries and a bit of a texture best described as forest floor. Second day was much better as these oddities had muted somewhat.

Indigena Tasting with Ian D'Agata in Houston. From one of the top producers of Ruche'. Clear, bright ruby with a purple hue. The nose is clean, fresh, aromatic, of medium (+) to pronounced intensity, with aromas of roses, botanical herbs, nutmeg and sweet spices. It is aged in very large, neutral oak casks. The palate is dry, but fruit forward, with ripe, jammy black cherry and plum notes and a spicy finish. The acidity and tannins are medium whereas the alcohol is deceivingly high at 15% and tastes more like 13.5%. This is a really unique, showy wine with a pleasant rounded mouthfeel, and a nicely persistent finish. Drink now, not intended for aging, although it should show fine for several years.

The nose was dark and brooding, showing a mix of black and red fruits, dusty spice and crushed violets. On the palate, I found smooth, silky textures, contrasted by energizing acidity, delivering ripe black fruits, minerals and masses of inner violet florals. The finish was medium-long and fresh, resonating of crushed stone, blueberry skins and inner florals.
