This is a very rich, mouthfilling wine. Dark fruit with a hint of black licorice. Mid-palate pepper and some herbalness. Fairly tart from acid and, similarly, fairly tannic. It seems a tad hot.

So good. Opens up with a burn, Some oak, berries and fruits. Starts to smooth with a beautiful taste. Drank over 2.5 hours. I love this stuff. More like a 92.

As a general comment I agree with other notes that Scherrer wines tend to be well structured and somewhere between New and old world, and this was no exception. I enjoyed it and think it would benefit from even a few more years of cellaring.

Tasty, but I agree with the comment that it's a little hot. I found the alcohol bite a little distracting.

I now realize that I drank this when I thought I was opening up an RRV syrah, not the Calypso vineyard.
This really opened up with air. The nose is perfumed with mostly red fruit. This is a restrained and elegant syrah. Kudos to Scherrer.
