Red fruit predominates, but there are some deeper plum and dark cherry notes. Seems a bit on the hot side, but there is a hint of deep maple sweetness (not out of place at all) that seems to counterbalance the EtOH. Score based on the end of the evening ... at it's best after 3 hours of air. Decant now or hold.

Deep dark reddish-violet in color; almost opaque. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & some mineral notes, spices, some cocoa, herbs & a slight hint of oak/vanilla in the background. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & plums with spices, herbs, cocoa, minerals & a slight hint of vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with extended airing but should develop further with additional aging if cellared properly.

Huge fan of Seven Hills for many years but unfortunately their wines aren’t quite as good the last few years. Visited the winery few months ago and seemed very commercialized compared to what it used to be. Hard to get much fruit out of this wine- this varietal is what they were always known for- had bottle today as well as around six months ago and neither was overly impressive. Their Columbia Valley Merlot which they discontinued was an overall better wine than this Walla Walla Merlot.

Black cherry, red plum, clove, almond, cedar. Creamy texture, medium-full body. Black cherry on entry, cedar in the mid-palate, spice on the finish. Tannins start muscular and grow aggressive in the finish, eventually drowning out the fruit. Balanced and lush.

Blackberry with some vanilla. Medium body, pleasant acidity, soft tannins. Nice wine, enjoyable now.
