  • Fairly heavy, not sweet but obviously high alcohol (15%). The usual lychee and other sauv blanc flavors but not well integrated or balanced. At this price point, I expected more.

  • Bested the 2017 SB from Quivet McGah by just a hair. this wine is definitely more acidic. A little more of a jagged edge, tropical character, definitely resembled more of the loamy type of soil that is characteristic closer to Hwy 29 vs Silverado Trail. Although I thought this was more on this southern edge towards Oakville instead of towards St. Helena. The nose of this definitely beat the Quivet. I would imagine that, as it warmed to room temp, it would start to cut through more of the fatty nature of pizza with which it was enjoyed tonight. all in all, comparing one winner to another, we definitely did not lose!

  • This SB is so much better than expected...tropical and explosive. Not quite on Arkenstone or Aesthete SB level, but the richness and round texture are very similar. Kiwi, stone fruit, nectarine and a melon/cantaloupe finish. If you enjoy big style SB, not sure there is a better Napa Valley one at $40. Jason Moore of Modus has really stepped up his game the last few years and it’s showing beautifully.
