Beautiful, pretty typical Saint Joseph- happy that I successfully blinded it as a St. Jo, although I had Crozes on my mind too and even potentially Washington, considering the density of the fruit. Not the most elegant/complex/precise example, but not at all the worst either. Really nice ripe blackberry and plum on the nose, a bit shy but def present, and a dose of olive brine/peppery meat. Really nice acidity supporting that, a little bit saline and briney without bullying the fruit. Pretty much a super-typical, middle-of-the-road, but totally "correct" and very well-balanced syrah. I'd love to try this with a little age on it, just to relax it a bit.

Apparently this is a very famous Courbis and they are small farmers. The last village of the Saint Joseph and then Cornas. The same domaine Gerard and Leudovic (sp?). A blend of 12 different parcels of wines. Mentored by Chave and Chave apparently comes every vintage to help. Farmers from nothing and now into this.

Deep ruby- purple in appearance. Completely opaque.
Fruit forward on the nose- this just bursts with blackberries, black raspberry, tapenade and some spice. Nothing subtle here !
Medium plus in body with plenty of structure and good (again fruit forward) flavor concentration. Medium plus and delicious finish.
A great wine that will also be a crowd pleaser. Not sure how this will age- I purchased 1/2 a case, so eventually will find out.
