  • Taste New Wines for September (San Diego Wine Co.): From their Monferrato hills, calcareous/clayey soil Le Radici Vyd, which "extends to the foot of the Castle of Burio, in the municipalityof Costigliole d’Asti;" Generally, "Macerated in contact with the grape skins for a duration of 10 days, alcoholic & malolactic fermentation in steel tanks."

N: Smoke & earth slightly atop ripe berries

P: Med body; RNDISH entry with NICE, almost swtish frt met by some puckerish astringency which fairly seamlessly morphs into a very LONG, very, VERY slightly tangy finish with a swtness to the still SLIGHTLY puckerish, very, VERY fine tannins. NEEDS into '20, then drinking for 3-4 yrs more. NICELY done! 15% ABV; My EXC-/EXC. [I didn't find any U.S. sources with which to compare this vendor's $17.99.]
