Spice on the nose but I don't really taste it. The palate is a mix of of tart fruits; plum, backberry, something else black-ish that I can't place. Lots of acid keeping things very fresh. Chewy tannins, soft but grippy, cheek-coating. Mostly primary, I don't get a lot of oak character and not yet tertiary. Very enjoyable already but needs to find a next phase of evolution to really wow. Good now, but mostly I'm curious about where it goes with time. Wants 5-10 more years, I suspect, to really unfurl.
Beautiful nose of dark fruits, oak is there, but handled well and adds to the enjoyment. Could have been a Margaret River cabernet to me. Mouthfeel full and round at the front end with lovely soft tannins to follow. Yum.

16 Blue Poles Merlot
Note based on Day three look.
Elegant, low oak style. Not as good as the cab franc a few weeks back, lighter bodied too. Good to very good.
