  • Dark garnet. High-toned, raspberry-like nose. Almost candy-like. In the mouth, smooth, ripe, silken with red fruits to the fore. A very mild expression of syrah to be sure. This is totally ready to drink and I am not sure I'd age it a whole lot longer. Quite different from most syrahs as it is made in a hedonistic, almost grapey style with little tannin or structure. All red fruit, no black fruit. Not sure this is really my style, but good in its way. 5-12-13-5: 85/100. The following day, this was much, much better. The nose had evolved into almost nothing but super ripe black olives, very enticing and pure! On the palate it had really evolved as well, again in a very positive way. Gone were the grapiness and red fruits replaced by a much deeper and infinitely more interesting flavor profile, one that suggested sweetness still, but also black fruits and earth now. Still smooth and slick with an extremely round and fat mouthfeel, this improved hugely. Score now would be 5-12-16-7: 90/100.
