Anton’s Wine Tasting Notes Winery: Weingut Baron Knyphausen Erbacher Steinmorgan Riesling Auslese Varietal: Riesling. Area/Appellation: Germany, Rheingau, Erbach Vintage: 2003er. Price: $42/ 375ml. From my personal inventory of Anton’s Vintage Wine and Spirits. 2000-2011. Color: burnished amber, Legs: medium Nose: aged honey, caramel, toffee, peanut brittle, pecans Palate: toffee, brown sugar candies, butterscotch, Leche Quemada i.e. (Brown sugar fudge) Ppopgi Penuche Fudge. Finish: more butterscotch, brown sugar fudge and Ppopgi Penuche Fudge. Comments: Out of the four bottles I had, one was donated to a charity, as to the other two, one was corked and one was in very poor condition. This one seems to have made it all the way and is in prime shape. I can only guess that quality control in bottling was part of the problem because Germany had a Phenomenal year in 2003 especially for Auslese and B.A. and T.B.A.’S. Pairing Suggestions: plain cheesecake. Score in terms of Vintage: 91 Score for the Wine: 91 Value for the Money: Good 😊 Date Tasted: 06/12/2022 Tasted by: ACK

Dead stone Amber with the slightest hint of yellow and dead slow legs. A nose of apricot cobbler, dried vanilla rind, aged blood oranges and the slightest hint of dried mango. Palate replete with apricot custard, butterscotch and caramel with a succulent finish of blood orange an hint of dried berry and a wiff of caramel. Ready to drink now. No heat from the hot 2003 vintage.
