  • 2002 Etude Cabernet Sauvignon

Popped and poured sediment removed, freaking scrumptious. I knew the O2’s were gonna last a long time from Napa and Sonoma.

  • 2019 Neyers Left Bank Red

Every once in a while, I come across of wine that I can sell three things occurred. The grapes were not properly inspected. In this case the Merlot, the blend was terrible. The acids were out of balance with the fruits.. this wine was convoluted. There was some plum and raisin notes initially, but overtaken by Savage tannins and very convoluted acids even though it’s supposed to have a certain percentage of Cabernet, I could not discern it or else the Cabernet grapes arrived, burnt or rotten. It was no surprise when I went to the Neyers website and saw that it was not even listed. I wouldn’t of listed it either, it was downright nasty. very rarely do I ever talk about poorly made wines that I had to talk about this one.

Area/Appellation: California, Santa Barbera County, Santa Maria Valley, Sierra Madre Vineyard
Vintage: 2019. Price: $56 Jacob Liquor East
Also available at their website 2020 vintage.
Color: yellow, vary slight hints of green Legs: medium to fast

Palate: white grapefruit, pineapple, pears, orange pomelo, mango, lemon
Finish: pineapple, yellow apples, pears, more white grapefruit and pineapple,
Comments: crisp, clean, distinctive, very well put together with a great symphony of yellow and orange fruits. My first Sierra Madre vineyard and damn I love this style.
Pairing Suggestions: I had a charbroiled chicken salad from local Le Monde Cafe. This well work with the usual faire roast chicken, shellfish, camembert, goat cheese, white fish, pasta w/cream sauce.

12/12/2021 7:28:00 AM - SMZ as I was on the mailing list for both Kosta Browne and CIRQ in his last email, along with my last allocation of CIRQ, he openly stated that this project was coming to a close. He was referring the CIRQ project and that he had enjoyed it and that he was moving on into the CHEV project with his father. I am fairly sure that everybody who received that last CIRQ allocation Received the same email. I had also read that he had separated partially from Kosta Browne and the fact that some of the grapes that he was getting from them for the CIRQ project were nolonger to be allocated to him and I think I read that in either Parker or wine spectator.

12/11/2021 5:13:00 PM - I’m pretty sure Redhead’s statement that Michael Browne is no longer associated with Cirq wines is wrong. Cirq used to be part of Kosta Browne. Several years back when Browne left KB, he retained ownership in Cirq…then two years or so ago he started up Chev. He owns both wineries…Cirq and Chev.

1/2/2017 1:29:00 PM - Redhead, Thanks for your comment regarding my LLC '85. I certainly have considered the possibility of a counterfeit bottle. I dismissed the possibility since if I were into this fakery, I'd concentrate on more expensive, collectable bottles. I bought retail from a reputable merchant that bought the wine ex-chateau. I sooner think it was reconditioned at the chateau, but guess I'll never know for sure.
