  • Really fun and lively stuff for sub-$20. I think it falls a bit behind some other Dolcetto I've enjoyed, lacking some of the floral dark fruit and minerally complexity, but still really solid. I got mostly bright red fruit on the fairly shy nose, earthy raspberry, cranberry, touches of minty herbs, maybe the faintest echo of something like new leather, or maybe that was the alcohol. With time I noticed something a little darker, approaching a ripe blueberry, but mostly shrill soprano fruit. Same on the palate, lots of bright red berry acidity, a little puckery but not too harsh at all (tannins were also pretty well-balanced, coarse but not aggressive.) Some sips had a touch of spritz, but only rarely. Good vibrancy, although a little simple. I could be overrating this, but if you're looking for a particularly red-fruited, precise Dolcetto, this is definitely one.
